MATH IN YOUR (little) FEET

Math In Your (little) Feet is a series of workshops for four- and five-year-olds exploring math concepts through movement, body rhythm, rhymes, song, and music.

While kinesthetically and creatively exploring space, children investigate the attributes of geometric shapes, specifically point in space, line, circle, square, and triangle.

Carefully crafted lessons use the imagery and rhythm of nursery rhymes and world music for accompaniment.   Active classroom teacher involvement in the dance class allows for the crossover of math concepts and language play into the rest of their day.

These whole body, kinesthetic explorations bring depth and meaning to children who are learning with all their senses. The program is grounded in NCTM principles, standards and focal points; Indiana math, physical education and music Foundations for Young Children; as well as national standards for dance and music education.
